The focuser for my 22-inch Dob project — a FeatherTouch focuser from StarLight Instruments — arrived on Friday, February 24, 2006. This project has required many involved design decisions where no clear-cut, easy answers were readily available. Fortunately, my choice of focusers was an easy one. I knew before I ever started exactly what focuser my telescope would have.
I’ve admired the precision, excellent silky focus motion, and reliable durability of the StarLight Instruments focuser for years and have always wanted to own one. Now I do.
When I called StarLight I spoke with Brigitte, who explained the various options in detail and gave excellent advice on what choices would be most appropriate for my scope. She said the lead time for the order would be four to six weeks. I mailed my check (StarLight does not except credit card orders), and the focuser arrived four weeks later. It’s a very happy day.
